The Data Browser
The EVA DataBrowser is modeled loosley on Apple Computer's iTunes interface. Once a file is opened in EVA, the DataBrowser displays the contents of the file in an heirarchical fashion from left to right. Rather than using Genre, Artist, and Album, the 3 panels across the top display the File, Variable, and Time/Region of the data. Each file has mutiple variables. Each variable has multiple times.
Creating an Image or Plot
To begin, select the file that contains the data you are interested in. Then choose the variable(s) of interest, and finally the time(s). At this point, the bottom panel should display the full and unique information for one or more plots. Note that you may use the control, command or shift keys to make multiple selections in the DataBrowser.
Press the Plot button (bottom right) to generate plots.
Once an image/map/plot is created, you will probably leave the DataBrowser. Read the ToolBar, MapWindow, and/or PlotWindow topics to work with your graphic.
Math Operations
If you would like to difference two data arrays you may do so in the Data Browser. Select the two variables you want to difference so that they appear in the bottom panel. Then, choose Differencing... (bottom right). You can take the difference of Data array 1 - 2 or Data array 2 - 1 (Arrays are number from top to bottom). If you have more than two files in the lower section of the Data Browser you will need to select the two files that you want Math Operations to work on.
