Map Window

The map window contains the graphical output when you choose to plot 2-D map arrays (latitude v. longitude) or vertical data (latitude v. altitude (pressure)).

Also contained on the map window is numeric information about the data. The global average, north and south hemisphere averages, and minimum and maximum values of the data are key diagnostics that are available. You can turn on/off these diagnostics via a contextual menu (click the 2nd mouse button on Windows or CTRL+click on Mac).

Controls for the map window are primarily contained in the ToolBar. Things you can do directly in the map window are:

  • Modify the title, subtitle, and colorbar title by clicking on them and typing.
  • Difference two maps via drag-and-drop (Mac only).
  • You can save the map image by
    • Choosing Save Image from the File menu.
    • Choosing Save Image from the contextual menu (right or CTRL+ click on the map)
    • Select Copy from the Edit or contextual menu (or CMD or CTRL +C) to copy the image to the clipboard

If you would like to see the map in numeric (raw) form, select Show Data from the Window menu.
